Your vehicle’s torque convert is a fluid coupling that transfers rotating power similar to an internal combustion engine to a rotating driven load. In an automatic, this device connects the power source to the load. In a manual transmission, the location of this device would be the mechanical clutch.
At Summit Transmission Inc., we rebuild torque converters in-house, thus saving our customers money and the time and energy of going to another shop that usually has to purchase their torque converter.
Torque converters are put in front of the transmission and create pressure for the vehicle to start and stop moving. Torque converters also create the engine’s stall.
Often, a torque converter will start to fail. You may feel your vehicle vibrating or possibly slipping during an override. Your car may also vibrate when it isn’t moving very fast and make the car lag very noticeable.
You may also hear various noises if your torque converter has gone wrong. This may include a whining when moving or even when in the park.
If you think you are having issues with your torque converter, contact Summit Transmission Inc. today at
